Mentors Group

Fifty Grade 11 students from local high schools attended the event, listening to a keynote address called Manufacturing: A Career on the Edge by Jeremy Bout, President of Edge Factor.

Jeremy shared information on his career journey and through a series of compelling videos demonstrated the fun, practical and life changing applications that manufacturing has in our world.

Judy Travis, Executive Director, WPH, shared information about Manufacturing in Hamilton.

During a lunch break the students had time to view displays by McMaster University, Faculty of Engineering; OYAP; and Mohawk College.

Next up was the fun (and sometimes loud) speed mentoring session where students were able to ask candid questions of a diverse group of people employed by manufacturing companies.

The students heard about the day to day reality of careers such as: Process engineer, Production supervisor, HR generalist, Marketing co-ordinator, CNC machinist, Mechanical designer, Human resources manager, Industrial engineer, Machinist and Cost analyst.

Thanks to our partners: City of Hamilton, Economic Development Department, HWCDSB, HWDSB and our mentors and their companies: Carmeuse, Felton Brushes, ACS Valves, Canada Bread, John Crane, and Walters Group for sharing their time and expertise.
