CALLING ALL HAMILTON CONSTRUCTION / GENERAL LABOUR EMPLOYERS!

Home UncategorizedCALLING ALL HAMILTON CONSTRUCTION / GENERAL LABOUR EMPLOYERS!

Our local Hamilton Workforce experts are reaching out to connect with someone in recruitment/HR or management for an exciting opportunity for us to support with filling your vacancies.

Our team at Workforce Planning Hamilton is funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training, Immigration and Skills Development – and we are supporting the YWCA with a construction craft worker program. The participants in this program will receive job readiness training, 28 weeks of training and support resulting in 12 certificates and practical knowledge to be successfully hired into the construction sector.

This is where you come in!

We are looking for employers like you who might be interested in taking on a participant (or several participants) for an 8-12-week placement of paid job training experience- ultimately helping to fill your vacancies. Employers who participate receive $250 per participant per week for the duration of the 12 weeks of placement.

I have attached a fact sheet with more information and would love to connect to chat in more detail about the opportunity for your business and answer any of your questions.

Benefits to Employer:

  • Financial incentive to hire and offset training costs ($250/week/participant)
  • Pre-screened industry-specific candidates in the skilled trades
  • Job ready applicants with health and safety training
  • Motivated and skilled workers that you can retain
  • Monitoring and support of new hires throughout the duration of work placement

Participating Criteria:

  • Offer a work placement based in Ontario
  • Be licensed to operate in Ontario
  • Provide participant with employment terms, conditions and benefits
  • Include participant on payroll
  • Not receive government funds for the same work placement
  • Not displace existing staff or replace laid-off staff
  • Not hire immediate family (e.g. parents, spouse or child)
  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act; the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, the Human Rights Code and any other relevant standards.
  • Maintain WSIB or adequate third-party general liability insurance (if applicable)
