  • Skills Canada
    A national, not-for-profit organization, which works with employers, educators, labour groups and governments to reposition trade and technical careers as a first choice career option for Canadian youth.

    Your resource for sourcing companies, products and expertise located in and around Hamilton, includes over 14,000 local business profiles.
  • Hamilton District Chamber of Commerce
    The Hamilton and District Chamber of Commerce works with the business community to provide networking opportunities and a business voice within the area.
  • Invest in Hamilton
    Hamilton’s Economic Development Office is the central point of contact for business assistance. Its services are geared to serve new start-up companies, corporate relocations, and the expansion and retention of existing business.
  • Small Business Enterprise Centre
    Offers small business supports including personalized consultation sessions, a mentorship program in partnership with local accounting, legal and insurance firms, an in-house resource library, networking groups and workshops.

    This site offers networking and support to business-women in the Hamilton and Halton regions.

Education / Literacy

  • Adult Basic Education Association
    A non-profit umbrella organization for adult basic literacy programs in Hamilton. They develop and plan literacy services and promote lifelong learning in the community.
  • Industry Education Council of Hamilton
    The Industry-Education Council is dedicated to increasing school-community collaboration across the region by providing challenging learning opportunities for students. Their mandate is to bring people and resources together to deliver programming that complements our education system.

Government

  • Canadian Human Rights Commission
    Is responsible for ensuring that federally regulated employers provide equal opportunities for employment to the four designated groups: women, Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of visible minorities. The Commission is also mandated to develop and conduct information and discrimination prevention programs.

  • Ontario Job Futures
    A career tool to help you plan for your future. It provides useful information about 190 occupational groups common in Ontario. The site offers information on how to find an occupation, job profiles, employment patterns and how jobs are defined.

    A national forum for dialogue and research on Canadian Labour Market and skills issues involving people from the labour and business community,

    Provides links to information available from Service Canada on finding a job, Employment Insurance, Family benefits, CPP, etc. etc.

Aboriginal / Metis

  • Hamilton Regional Indian Centre
    Provide quality programs and services to all age groups regardless of status or residency for the betterment of the health and welfare of the Native Community.

Francophone

  • ACFO Régionale Hamilton
    The Francophone Employment Resource Centres provide services to individuals seeking employment as well as employers seeking bilingual staff.
  • Centre de santé
    A multi-service agency providing health and social services to French-speaking clients at our two sites: in Welland serving the Niagara region, and in Hamilton serving the new city of Hamilton.
  • Office des affaires francophones
    Provides information on the provinces French-speaking population to other levels of government and the public, and co-ordinates the government-wide delivery of French-language services in the 24 areas designated under the French Language Services Act.

Persons with Disabilities

  • Canadian Hearing Society
    Provides services that enhance the independence of deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people, and that encourage prevention of hearing loss.
  • Goodwill, Amity Group
    Provides a wide range of workforce development training programs, community job placement and support services so that employment and personal fulfillment will be achieved by more people with disabilities or other vocational barriers.
  • Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)
    The Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) is intended to meet the needs of people with disabilities and help them to become more independent. Additional information on the program and useful links are available on the website.
  • Ontario March of Dimes
    Has a range of services designed to assist people with disabilities to improve their employment opportunities and increase their income potential.
  • PATH Employment
    Assists persons with disabilities in finding work, deciding on a career and accessing skills training, and assists employers in recruiting qualified staff and obtaining wage subsidies for eligible new employees.
  • Community Living Hamilton
    Community Living Hamilton supports 1,400 people with developmental disabilities such as Down Syndrome and Autism. The largest service provider in Hamilton for these individuals and their families, and the largest non-profits and registered charities in the Hamilton community.

  • Advancing Women in Skilled Trades
    This site provides employers with free tools, templates and workplace posters to help recruit, retain, and advance women in their workplaces.
  • Inasmuch House
    An emergency shelter for women and children in crisis due to abuse and homelessness. Provides information on the services offered as well as contact information.
