This project is being developed in partnership with the Hamilton Immigration Partnership Council (HIPC) and Workforce Planning Hamilton (WPH) to better understand the experiences of international students in Hamilton, with a focus on workforce participation, housing, and community connection.
The work began with HIPC’s Immigrant Survey, which was administered and cleaned by HIPC and shared with WPH for analysis. An initial review of the survey data was conducted to identify key areas for deeper exploration, and these early insights were shared with HIPC.
Building on this, WPH planned and hosted focus groups with international students to better understand the experiences behind the data and explore where and why workforce gaps exist. The findings from the focus groups are being analyzed alongside the survey results and will be brought together in a final report.
